A structure that collapsed from the bottom? Fix only that one thing on your next try. Don't rebuild everything. I've beaten stages by just thickening one support beam or adding a tiny lip to a ledge that enemies were slipping past. Small, surgical changes win runs.

Finally, take breaks. This sounds like generic advice, but the game's planning phase has a quiet intensity that leads to mental fatigue. After five or six failed attempts, your drawings get sloppier and your strategies more desperate. Step away for ten minutes, come back, and you'll often beat the stage on the first try with a clear head.
